Visiting restrictions at Leominster Community Hospital have been eased following the reopening of the Minster and Eaton Wards.
Visiting restrictions at Hereford County Hospital have been lifted at Wye Valley NHS Trust following the reopening of Leadon and Gilwern wards. The restrictions had been put in place following an outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting.
With the prospect of freezing temperatures and the first taste of snow across Herefordshire this winter, healthcare professionals are urging local people to keep an eye on their elderly neighbours.
Wye Valley NHS Trust is advising people to think twice before they head for their local Emergency department – or they could face a long wait. The advice from hospital bosses is to use alternatives - such as telephoning NHS 111, using the GP walk in centre in Hereford, the Minor Injury Units at Ross and Leominster Community Hospitals, seeing their local GP or seeking advice from their local pharmacy - if their condition or injury is not serious.
Two wards at Hereford County Hospital and the two wards at Leominster Community Hospital have been closed to visitors due to increased incidents of diarrhoea and/or vomiting.
Visiting restrictions at Ross community hospital have been eased following the reopening of the Merlin and Peregrine Wards.
Both wards at Ross on Wye Community Hospital remain closed to visitors due to cases of diarrhoea and vomiting caused by Norovirus.
