Where to go when you arrive at hospital Patients are asked to report to the reception area indicated on their appointment letter.  Patients attending appointments in Oxford Suite, Eign Suite and Audiology please check in at the main reception at the front entrance to Hereford County Hospital. When you receive a letter, giving you information of the date and time of your appointment, it should state which reception area that you need to attend. The Coffee Cup The Coffee Cup, at Hereford County Hospital, is located on the ground floor near the main entrance area.  It is open 7 days a week, 7am to 7pm (this may vary for public holidays)   The Coffee Cup serves Costa beverages, as well as bottled drinks and hot and cold snack item foods. All items can be eaten in or taken away. Skin to skin Extensive research tells us the many benefits of skin to skin immediately after baby is born. It helps to regulate baby’s heartrate, breathing and temperature, reduces their stress levels, aids with their first feed, as well as enhancing your milk supply.   It has also been shown to have beneficial effects for the mother if they have experienced a traumatic birth.    A minimum of an hour skin to skin and offering baby their first feed during this time can help to realise these benefits.  However, there is no limit, as baby grows, skin to skin can…
There are many ways to help. However much time you are able to give, there will be a role to suit you. There are opportunities at the County Hospital site in Hereford, the community hospitals in Leominster, Bromyard and Ross-on-Wye, and also from home. Usual volunteer hours are Monday to Friday, either in the morning or afternoon.  We do, however, also have some weekend and evening roles available too.
