Macmillan cancer information and support service
The service is based at The County Hospital, within the Macmillan Renton Unit.
Who we are
Macmillan Cancer Support and Wye Valley NHS Trust have worked together to develop the Macmillan Cancer information and support service in the Macmillan Renton Unit.
We offer people affected by cancer access to good quality, comprehensive and appropriate information and support. You may have cancer yourself, care for a friend or relative, work as a health professional, or simply want to know more about cancer.
The service is staffed by a Cancer Information and Support Service Facilitator - please see below.
Welcome to the Macmillan Information and Support Service at Hereford County Hospital, located within the Macmillan Renton Unit
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Rachael Manacchini-Godfrey and I am the
Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service (MCISS) Facilitator.
Together with the cancer support workers team, we support cancer patients and their families and friends, and healthcare professionals caring for cancer patients.

What we offer
We provide free information, support and practical advice for anyone affected by cancer. We can offer you:
- Confidential one-to-one support
- Information on all aspects of living with cancer such as site specific diagnosis, treatments and coping with side effects
- Access to information on diet and nutrition, physical and mental wellbeing
- Signposting to relevant local and national support groups, cancer charities and wellbeing sessions
Some of our resources are available in different languages and formats, and are suitable for people with special needs.

If you have any concerns about cancer then please drop by for a chat; you don't need to make an appointment. We are here to help from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays).

Local Support Groups
- Hereford All Cancer Support Group - all meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month from 10am to 12pm at the Salvation Army Church and Community Centre, Canonmoor St, Hereford HR4 9JJ. For details or to book on events phone 01432 342 342 or email allcancersg@gmail.com
- Ross on Wye Cancer Group - for anyone affected by cancer. Meets every third Tuesday in the month to chat over a cuppa. Visit Ross on Wye Cancer Group Facebook page for more information. Phone 07501 211779 or email rossonwyecancergroup@gmail.com
- Ludlow Cancer Support Group meets fortnightly in the Parish Centre in St Peter’s Church in Henley Road, Ludlow. Meetings run from 11 am to 12.45 pm. Refreshments are free with a simple lunch, costing £2 offered at the end. Phone 01584 875438 or email rosemary.wood3gmail.com

Support for children when family member has cancer
Hope Support Services, based in Ross-on-Wye supports young people aged 5 to 25 when a close family member is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness such as cancer, Covid 19 or other disease.
