Feedback and birth stories

We are passionate about women having a positive experience and individualised care. Feedback from families is essential for us to continue improving our service.

You will find that on each ward that you visit there are QR codes, which lead to surveys about the care you’ve received. We really appreciate any feedback you give us, be it positive or something we need to work on. This section will explain how you can give feedback, read some birth stories from people who have received care from us and learn more about the Maternity Voices Partnership.

We are proud to report that our Maternity Service recently received a ‘better performing’ rating from the Healthcare Commission.   You can also keep up to date with what is going on at WVT Maternity by following our Facebook page.

For more information on maternity and neonatal services across the county, and support available for families before, during and after birth, visit BirtHWays - the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Local Maternity System website.

How was your maternity care? You may be invited to take part in 2026 Maternity Survey

We always strive to provide a high standard of care for you and your baby and to ensure that you have the best possible experience. We are pleased to announce that, in April 2026, the NHS Care Quality Commission (CQC) is launching a major survey on experiences of using maternity services.

    • If you give birth in January or February 2026, you may be invited to give feedback on the quality of care and support you received during your pregnancy, labour and birth, and after you and your baby went home. Your participation in this survey will help us monitor the quality of our services and suggest further areas where we can continue to improve.
    • If you are invited to take part, you will receive a letter with information on how to complete the survey online or on your phone. If you prefer to complete the survey on paper, a paper questionnaire will be sent in a later mailing. You will also receive information on how to complete the survey in a different language, or a different format (e.g. Braille, Easy read, Large print).
    • Participation will not affect your care in any way.The survey is confidential, and your responses will not be shared with our staff.
    • The results will be published in Autumn 2026 and will be used by us to understand what you think of our maternity services and care. What we learn from your feedback will help us to make improvements to NHS maternity services so we can provide the very best care for you and your baby and support our local community. Have your say and make a difference to local NHS maternity care. For more information about the survey, please visit the Care Quality Commission website

We are pleased to have made a number of improvements to maternity care based on feedback from women provided as part of the previous Care Quality Commission survey, which was published in 2025.  We work together with the Maternity Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) to co-produce an action plan based on the survey feedback, which is focused on continuous learning and improvements, and is monitored by Wye Valley NHS Trust and the MNVP.  We also encourage parents to join the Maternity Neonatal Voices Partnership, which enables people to influence and shape our priorities.

Other ways that you can provide feedback - feedback from families is essential for us to continue improving our service.  If you are not invited to take part in the survey above, we encourage you to provide feedback, including positive experiences, recognition of maternity staff who have provided your care, concerns and complaints.  Find out more about how to give feedback
