Tonia’s background is in physiotherapy, but she has undertaken further orthopaedic and surgical training and specialised in the treatment and management of orthopaedic conditions and gained postgraduate qualifications in musculoskeletal/orthopaedic medicine.
In clinic the Orthopaedia Physiotherapy Practitioner (OPP) assesses patients, performs aspirations/injections if necessary. If further investigation is needed these will be ordered and the patient reviewed in a follow up clinic. If surgical intervention is appropriate the OPP will list the patient for the necessary procedure or operate.
The OPP service was implemented in 2003 to help reduce waiting times in the orthopaedic department.
The OPP service is now available on Choose and Book and can be booked directly.
