Outpatients
Welcome to Wye Valley NHS Trust outpatient services. We aim to provide a quality of care we would want for ourselves, our family, and our friends.
Outpatients refer to those who have an appointment in a hospital or clinic but do not need to stay overnight. Such appointments could be for treatment, diagnosis or a procedure.
Outpatient clinics and appointments are held at various locations across our hospitals and community sites, including at Hereford County Hospital, Ross, Leominster and Bromyard Community Hospitals, and community clinics. View the map for Hereford County Hospital.
Please find below information to help prepare you for your appointment, attending your appointment, cancelling your appointment (which needs to be done in advance), patient-led follow-up appointments, patient portal, and video consultations.
- How to prepare for my appointment
- Attending my appointment
- How to cancel and rebook my appointment
- Patient initiated follow up - putting you in control of your appointments
- Patient portal - patients can also now access their appointment letters via the Trust’s new online portal
- Video consultations - we are now offering video consultations for some patients, where appropriate
Text reminder service
We have an outpatient text reminder service to try to reduce the number of missed appointments each year. Patients will receive a text reminder message to their mobile phone instead of a reminder letter. Patients will still receive their initial appointment letter containing all the clinical details.
If you wish to receive text message reminders, please let the outpatient receptionist know your mobile number. If you do not wish to receive text reminders, please also inform the receptionists.
Infection prevention
Information regarding infection prevention and not attending hospital if you have Covid symptoms, respiratory virus, sickness/diarrhoea
All our staff actively promote the 'Clean your hands' campaign as an important way of controlling infection. Alcohol gel is available at the end of every patient bed, and patients are encouraged to ask staff whether they have cleaned their hands. Find out more about infection control at our hospitals.
Privacy and dignity
We are committed to the delivery of high-quality services, affording our patients the same privacy, dignity, respect, and compassion that we would want for ourselves, our family, and friends. Find out about patient privacy and dignity at our hospitals.
Health information videos
There are a number of health information videos available provided by the Integrated Care Board.
Friends and Family Test
The Friends and Family Test is a simple question that patients are asked about the care they have received. The test is part of a way of gathering patient feedback and driving improvement in NHS hospital services across the country.
Information Hub and signposting for patients, carers, and visitors – we’re here to help
Our Information Hub and signposting service is available for patients, carers, and visitors, located at Hereford County Hospital, opposite the main reception. The Information Hub is run jointly with WVT trained volunteers and patient advice and liaison staff, in partnership with Talk Community. Our friendly team is on hand at the Hub providing wellbeing information and signposting people to services, groups, and events across the county. Come along and find out more.
