Independent offer

We offer any individual aged over 16 years old access up to 75 hours of work experience. This does not require the involvement of an education provider.

Applicants will complete the application form and placements will be organised based on the preferences noted within the application (depending on host team capacity). This offer can be negotiated and organised through the work experience team or if appropriate directly with the team that will be hosting the applicant. 

Please note, all applications must come through the work experience team and confirmation will be shared with the applicant and host area upon receipt of the completed application forms and necessary health and safety checks. 

Within this offer learners will:

• Complete an application process
• Undertake a comprehensive online Trust induction
• Be provided with a full timetable (learners who have their placement arranged by the work experience team only)
• Complete a feedback form upon completion of the work experience

There are some departments within the organisation that only host learners of a certain age because of health and safety within those departments. If there are any requests that we aren’t able to facilitate for this reason we will discuss this thoroughly with the applicant. 

We have maximum capacity numbers which we have to follow to ensure we can safely deliver care to our patients, whilst also ensuring our learners get the best experience possible. The work experience team will confirm your work experience offer with you and the department(s) or team(s) that you are working with. Until you receive this your placement cannot be guaranteed. Also, depending on the circumstances beyond our control there may be times when we have to rearrange or delay work experience placements. We will do our best to avoid this at all times, but if this does happen we will endeavour to advise you of any changes at the earliest opportunity.
