Frank Myers, who has been a non-Executive Director at Wye Valley NHS Trust for more than 12 years, has been thanked for his contribution to healthcare provision in the county.

At December’s meeting of Wye Valley NHS Trust’s board, the chairman, Russell Hardy, thanked him for his dedication and service.

“Frank has been a non-executive director at the Trust for I think 12 years. He is the longest serving non-Executive in the country and I would just like to thank Frank for his extraordinary efforts over the years to make Wye Valley NHS Trust a better Trust for the citizens that we all try and serve.

“Frank, you have been an absolute example and legend of what public service means. So thank you on behalf of everyone in Herefordshire, for the work you do, and I know your volunteering in different forum will continue.”

Russell added: “Frank, you are a friend of the Trust; you’re a friend of mine and we will miss you. Thank you.”

Speaking after stepping down from the Trust board, Frank said: “I’m disappointed to have to step down in accordance with the national NHS rules, but I have enjoyed the opportunity to take part in such an important institution and to witness the many improvements which have taken place. It has been the experience of a lifetime.
